Senator Rodante Marcoleta on Monday said the lawyer who notarized witness Orly Guteza’s affidavit may face disbarment if she refuses to acknowledge her signature.
“It’s common for Mr. President, even if you go to many places where there is a notary, you won’t see the lawyer there. Just hand him your paper and he will return it to you after you pay,” Marcoleta said in a privilege speech Monday afternoon.
There is definitely someone there who signs. And his staff or secretary imitates his signature. That’s always the case, it’s common but it’s not right because according to the law of notaries, the notary must be face to face with the notary. Why did he now say that he didn’t sign it? He may not have signed it but he let whoever that person is, sign the document,” he said.
