Have you ever felt like things couldn’t get any worse?
Steve stole Sophie’s wallet when she was buying her son a balloon. She started frantically looking for it, apologized to the seller, and rushed away in a surprisingly panicked state. And it soon became clear why. Sophie’s husband appeared. He roughly grabbed her and pulled her aside, demanding to know why she’d been hiding from him. When she explained that she’d lost her wallet, the man threatened her with a “serious talk at home” if she didn’t find the money he’d given to her. Steve noticed how fearful Sophie was of her husband. He approached him from behind, threw balloon confetti in his face, and told Sophie to run. She refused to go far, saying that her son got separated from her. Steve smiled and pointed at the ball pit in the kids’ corner – her little boy was sitting in there, smiling.
The three of them walked around the mall, trying to avoid being seen by Sophie’s husband. Soon, the place closed. She was happy to spend at least one night away from her monster of a spouse. She thanked Steve for helping her, unaware that it was him who had stolen her wallet and gotten her in trouble in the first place.
