What was the moment that made you want to give up?
Casey delivered a letter and a rose to a woman sitting at the bar. She glanced at the man who asked her to bring the message, thinking it was a romantic gesture. But the second the woman opened the envelope, she began to cry – her husband had passed away on a military mission. She ran off, unable to control her grief. And Casey rushed to the stranger, asking why he lied to his wife about losing his life. The man was cold and bitter, dismissing Casey’s questions. But when he realized that she wasn’t going to back down, he quietly moved from behind the table, revealing his wheelchair. He explained that since he was now disabled, he didn’t think of himself as a proper man or even person anymore. He didn’t deserve to be with his wife.
Casey got angry at the fact that he had given up so easily on himself and his marriage. So, she offered him a choice. He could stay at the bar and drown his sorrows or fight for his love. Casey insisted that the man meet her the next day after closing so she could help him with the rehabilitation. Because not that long ago, she herself was wheelchair bound. And although the man refused her offer, the next day, by some miracle, he showed up again.
